What tastes best here?
This is without a doubt one of the most unique restaurants I've eaten at in San Francisco. It is basically a fast-food yet delicious home-cooked Italian restaurant. For the area, prices are fantastic. Seating at peak times can get quite packed, and the lines can get very long, but yet service was exceptionally fast. I was particularly blown away by the vegetarian ravioli - it went great with the marinara sauce!
MoreHole in the wall, home made pasta made by italians. Very comforting food. Their pesto sauce was excellent
MoreThe staff was incredibly kind. The food- absolutely delicious! The spaghetti daily special was so good that I finished mine and the reminder of what my girlfriend didn't eat.
Moresurprise surprise... we love this place! a 5-star quality Italian food (but it doesn't burn holes in your wallet.) Unfortunately, if you want a comfortable seating like any other regular restaurants, you will be disappointed. the best option is order to go!
MoreThe people were amazing the lasagna tasted like chef boyardee beef ravioli. Portion sizes are really small and the rue for the parmeseana sauce is gritty after 10 mins :(
MoreDelicious pastas that literally tasted like it s made at home. Our portion size was a bit small but all other plates we saw had big portions. The only reason I gave them four stars is because the $6 tiramisu was tiny. Just one layer and pretty basic.
MorePerfect for when you want a bunch of carbs and cheese!
Great small joint in Little Italy. Choose your pasta, chioose your sauce and enjoy! They also have daily specials.
MoreAn excellent deli, I could get lunch here every day for a year and not eat the same thing twice
MoreBest Italian food in the area!! The plates are hugeee, it smelled so good that we just went for it, couldn’t wait to take pics lol! The staff is also really helpful, they explain all the dishes and give the best recommendations ever!!
MoreLove the setup of this place. Order first, pay, then sit down and wait for food. The food comes out very fast so you don't have to wait long. It is a little tight in terms of space but worth waiting for a spot to sit. Pasta and sauces were fresh and delicious.
MoreSmall place with truly amazing fresh pasta. Had the gnocchi with pesto and I loved all of it. The paper plates look deceiving but they make you incredibly full. Will return one day on another visit.
MoreThis restaurant is the best Italian food ever. A great place for locals to eat without tourists. Very fresh meat and homemade pasta made fresh everyday. Definitely would recommend.
MoreI ordered a tiramisu cake on 7/10/20 for a anniversary (Zoom) wedding. We delivered it to our friends (The couple) and they were so embarrassed to tell us that it was a horrible experience.
MoreI was sadly very disappointed from their pasta. While the restaurant is really cute and the staff really nice, the pasta isn't good at all. I had the Meatball Pasta and neither the Sauce nor the pasta was good. The pasta started to stick to the paper plate after 5min (should never happen) and the sauce was very oily and not very tasty.Especially as European who grew up next to Italy and knows how Italian Pasta should taste like, this is sadly a big disappointment.
MoreSimple place with extraordinary pasta. We had meatball and pesto and the sauces were delicious especially with the freshly made pasta. Try it!
MoreJust the best authentic non-tourist restaurant. I usually get boxes of food to go. Amazed by the simple fresh pappardelle pasta with even the simplest sauce. It really does taste homemade. Bought some superior Sicilian olive oil once. Everyone who works there speaks more Italian than English. If I were homesick for Italy, I'd eat there every day.
MoreWent here for a date. Perfect food, perfect date! I loved it! We ordered the lasagna and some pasta. My lasagna was so gooodddd!
Morethe Italian Homemade Company is one of the top 5 Italian restaurants that I've experienced in San Fransisco. The inner place is small and cozy and usually too crowded and busy but its worth it.The menu is not really full of varied food and we nearly ordered everything in the menu LOL.I loved the Ravioly very much and I believe its the best in the whole restaurant. You should try it!
MoreGreat authentic Italian food! The staff were all so nice and friendly.
On the day we visited, it was jammed packed, with good reason. Dishes are reasonably priced, fresh and really tasty. Loads of variety on the menu, so it seemed like a great place to try some new dishes. Staff were friendly and the place had a great family estalishment feel. Well worth a walk to this place.
MoreFresh pasta was nice but “bread” was pita bread and also the bolognese sauce was very, very greasy and not super tasty. Would not order from them again.
MoreLove this concept! I'm from SF so it's amazing to get the same feel in CA. Nothing better than arcades and amazing drinks. Great place to take a date or friends nostalgic for oldstyle arcades. Heck go for the music and drinks.
MoreThe best meatball by far! We ordered papardelle with bolognese, caprese salad, meatball and tiramisu. Everything was delicious but the meatball was spectacular!
MoreUnnecessarily hyped. I tried gnocchi with pesto sauce and it was an ordinary gnocchi but sauce was pretty good.
MoreHigh quality Italian food at a great price! Meat lasagna was spectacular as well as the Alfredo!!! Flatbread is a nice addition to your meal. Super simple, paper plates, limited seating but well worth the trip!
MoreNever thought I'd get absolutely stunning Italian food in San Francisco, yet here we are. This was better pasta than I had at a lot of places in Italy. Handmade, fresh sauces, not pretentious - affordable, delicious and hearty helpings. THIS is the type of Italian food more cities across the US need! Ditch the white table cloth in favor of some paper plates and plastic cutlery, and focus on making delicious, fresh and affordable food - something this place does exceptionally well. Really an outstanding experience, highly recommended for any serious foodie.
MoreFettuccini and tortellini were exquisite. The pesto sauce was incredible to the point where I wanted my girlfriend's food as well 😁
MorePossibly the first time I've seen pasta made in the back of the kitchen. Had the Tagliatelle with meatballs. Portion was huge - meatball option = meat sauce + 2 large meatballs. Taste was okay. Pasta and sauce slightly watery if you get my meaning.
MoreThis place has really authentic Italian food and is always made fresh everyday. A great place to eat for locals. Great portions and very friendly service.
MorePasta was delicious with a perfect texture. The white sauce was not seasoned well and required added salt and Parmesan cheese to make it palatable. The service was excellent and we loved our burrata salad.
MoreThis place is great. No pretense. Love the paper plates. Price is right. You can tell they make the pasta by hand.
MoreI'm writing this review during the pandemic lockdown, FYI.Although, the situation is unfortunate, the Italian homemade company is doing its very best to make it a positive experience. The food is as delicious as always! I felt very safe going in to order my dinner. I saw all the tables carefully arranged outside to make it a cozy environment. I stocked up on a few Italian groceries while I was there, as well.
MoreExceptional! One of the best places in San Francisco - the best Italian place we've ever been outside of Italy. The staff/ the service is exceptional. The wine selection is great! My boyfriend and I tried a few dishes and they were all full of flavour. Last but not least, the service! It deserves another 5 stars. The lady who served us was very knowledgable and very patient. She explained all the dishes thoroughly, at least two times and always with a smile on her face! Thank you!
MoreVery large portion. Great prices. Staff is in a hurry, but very busy so understandable
More3 stars only because I was waiting for smth special and really delicious but I didn’t get it. First, they brought me cold lasagna I asked to reheat but they brought a new hot one. I think they overcooked it because it was so soft and a little bit burned(((( actually, portion size is not big at all. I don’t know why everyone says it’s big. I am not sure I ll be back ...
MoreBest meal of our trip to San Francisco! Generous portions and the food is amazing. I don’t generally like sauce on my pasta - I would have eaten an entire bowl of the meat sauce with a spoon. The meatballs were also incredible. Wish we lived close enough to be regulars!
MoreGreat little spot for pasta & dessert. Stopped by to get fresh pasta to cook dinner, and some dessert for after. The apple cake was great, definitely recommend after your meal. They also have Roman style pizza which was a nice compliment for our meal. Planning on going back again soon to dine in. If you're in the area and craving pasta, this is the spot.
MoreMy fiance and I love the other location and I was hesitant to write this but we did not enjoy our meals. Pasta and sauce were mixed for only a minute, not much flavor and lukewarm. Also, she felt her tortellini was undercooked and I agreed. When my girl doesn't finish her pasta, you know something's wrong!
MoreJust left, seems like really good authentic Italian food! The Lasagna is too die for! I really don’t like red sauce but it’s a must try! The Ravioli is great too just not a big serving.
MoreThey make the absolute best pasta that I have ever had anywhere! I've been to The Italian Homemade Company every time I've been to SF, and it gets better with every visit. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would! Definitely a must while you're in SF!
MoreThe food here was delicious! Also, the people were super friendly. There are a bunch of vegetarian options as well as customization available making it easy for everyone to find something they would like. Honestly, a bigger issue is deciding on what to get! Personally, I would recommend the lasagna or a pesto pasta
MoreDelicious dishes. Generous portions. Definitely go back again. It's a fast food style diner where you go inside and order. They bring food to you. Clean restroom. They have cold water on tap.
MoreMust try their tiramisu because it is to die for. I think the lasagna is the best I've ever had. Then 2nd place is any of their pasta with meat balls 😋
MoreIncredibly fast served traditional lasagna that is richly flavored, hearty in body and delicious. Came out perfectly steaming hot (see pic with steam). Nice cafe atmosphere.
MoreDelicious food, but highly variable portion sizes. Gnocchi rolls with marinara were yummy but a tiny serving and a bit dense, burrata salad was delicious and huge. Others in my group ordered the meat lasagna and meatball platter, both of which were enormous and got great reviews.
MoreOh man their cheese are on point, their food was the best Italian I ever had! Will definitely be back again!
MoreThis is the place to go if you’re looking for authentic Italian cuisine served in an old world Italian setting. Run by a family of Italian immigrants, you feel as though you’re dining with them in their home. Everything is hand made from scratch including all the pastas. Simple, rustic, mouthwateringly delicious food in a warm relaxed environment that’s always welcoming and never fussy. The lasagna is my fave but they run out fast so go early. Ravioli alla pasticciata runs a close second. By far my favorite Italian restaurant in the Bay Area.
MoreFantastic Italian joint. I enjoyed my pesto gnocchi. I would like to come back again to try their meatball sauce and other dishes. It's a rather small restaurant so it can be packed. Plan accordingly. The family that ordered after us planned to take out their meal to the local park, which sounds like a good option.
MoreI guess my empty dish explains everything! It was the best pasta I have ever had. Delicious!!!
